Captain Michael Green is a retired combat veteran and currently the Director of Operations for North Texas Patriot Anglers Outdoor Therapy program. Born and raised in Texas, Captain Green enlisted in the Marine Corps in February of 1990 with the military occupation specialty of Infantry Machine Gunner 0331 once receiving orders to 3rd Battalion 3rdMarines. Following his combat deployment to Desert Storm he reenlisted for a second tour serving as a Marine Cadre Instructor 8153 for Marine Corps Security Forces Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Sergeant Green left the Marine Corps in the fall of 1998 to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations and Foreign Policy with the University of Maryland. Over the next few years Michael worked with various Congressional and U.S. Senate campaigns in Chicago, Illinois.  In the Spring of 2004 Michael reenlisted into the Marine Corps and received orders to 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. He was then combat deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in the fall of 2004 as Kilo Company’s Machine Gun Section Leader. Upon returning from Fallujah, Sergeant Michael Green applied and was accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program where he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the summer of 2005 and later attained the billet of Logistics officer 0402.

Captain Michael Green served an additional eleven years that encompassed two more combat tours to Haditha and Kharma, Iraq with 1st Battalion 3rd Marines, a tour as a Series and Company Commander on Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, and a final tour with Combat Logistics Battalion 3 until his retirement.  Captain Michael Green is a recipient of the Combat Action Ribbon and Purple Heart. Personal awards include (2) Navy Commendation medals with Combat “V” for Valor, (2) Navy Commendation medals and (2) Navy Achievement medals.

Here he acquired and made it his lifelong passion to volunteer his remaining years to provide the same opportunities for all expense paid trips to others that he himself has experienced and benefitted from. 

Outdoor therapy has become an increasingly popular form of treatment for combat veterans recovering from post-traumatic stress and other psychological disorders. This type of therapy is based on the concept that being outdoors in nature and engaging in activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting can help combat veterans to heal from the psychological and emotional trauma associated with their wartime service in the military.

The most obvious benefit of outdoor therapy for combat veterans is that it provides an escape from the mental and physical stresses of everyday life. By engaging in such activities, veterans can focus on the present moment, rather than ruminating on their past experiences or worrying about their future. Michael Green is also founder and director of newly formed Patriot Hunters with the like mission and scope as Patriot Anglers since formed by GySgt Lew Duckwall and hopes to be up and running by the fall of 2024.

Michael Green resides in Rockwall, Texas and has two daughters, Elizabeth (22) and Kennedy (21).
